Spring Term in P4!

Primary 4 have had a fun and interactive half-term! We enjoyed lots of hands-on learning during our 'Fractions' topic in Numeracy and particularly enjoyed the lessons where we used sweets as a stimulus for writing and comparing fractions!

In Literacy we travelled back in time to take on the role of a WW2 evacuee. After inspiration from our favourite 'Spywatch', drama activities and listening to real-life accounts, we wrote letters home to our families telling them what life was like in our new homes in the countryside. We tried to include as many personal details as possible and took great care to check the tense of our writing. Mrs Herron was so proud of our finished letters!

We also enjoyed learning about synonyms and had fun running through the forest to look for words with similar meanings to the ones on our record sheets. We now know that synonyms are words with similar meanings e.g. small, tiny, little.

This half-term we also celebrated World Book Day. We loved coming to school dressed as our favourite book characters and enjoyed having the opportunity to read to the children in our Nursery.

We learnt so much on this trip and loved being able to see real artefacts from WW2 and items belonging to evacuees.

Did you know that people painted their light bulbs black during the war so they had some light during the black out? Thanks so much to the museum for having us!
