What a day it was for our Primary 6 and 7 girls’ football team as they took part in today’s tournament – showcasing skill, resilience, and fantastic team spirit throughout!
The girls got off to a brilliant start with a confident 2-0 win over Currie, thanks to well-taken goals from Sophie and Ellie. This strong opening set the tone for what would be an unforgettable day.
Next came two hard-fought matches against Springhill and Black Mountain, both ending in closely contested 0-0 draws. The team stayed focused and disciplined, with solid defending and tireless effort from every player.
Their next match was against Springfield, where Erin found the net with a great finish in a 1-1 draw. That crucial goal proved enough to see the team progress to the final, where they once again faced Springhill.
The final began with a setback, going 1-0 down, but the girls showed tremendous character and determination. Up stepped Ellie, who grabbed her second goal of the day, levelling the match and sending the final into a dramatic penalty shootout.
What followed was a nail-biting, seemingly endless shootout, where the pressure was high – but so was the quality! Our players took their penalties with confidence, and in goal, Harper-Lee pulled off some fantastic saves that proved vital. Eventually, after a thrilling back-and-forth, Harmony emerged as tournament champions!
To top it all off, Ellie was rightly named Player of the Tournament by the Springhill teachers – a reflection of her outstanding performances across all games.
A huge well done to the entire team – their sportsmanship, teamwork, and behaviour were impeccable all day. A day to remember, and as a school we are very proud of each and every one of them!
